Cool Christmas GiveAway!

FINAL UPDATE: This GiveAway is now closed! I will announce the winner Tuesday, December 8 at noon central time.

Thank you all so much for entering and praying!

UPDATE: TO ENTER MY GIVEAWAY, YOU NEED TO PRAY (for IJM) IN THE COMMENT BOX, NOT SIMPLY POST A COMMENT… Now back your regularly scheduled GiveAway!)

Welcome!

(If you are here because you heard about Because I Can on Air1, the post you’re looking for is below…. but read this one first since I am giving something away!!)

Here is how to enter my part of the (Lysa TerKeurst) Cool Christmas GiveAway:

  1. Click on Comments
  2. Write a prayer for the heroes at International Justice Mission and those who await a rescue that they don’t even know is coming.
  3. I will choose one “pray-er” at random who will win…
  4. What if We, Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Brandon Heath’s fantabulous new CD! (I might even be able to get it autographed for you! See below!)

This GiveAway ends Monday, December 8, 2008, at 12:00 noon, Central Time!

IF our cause, Because I Can, is drawn as the winner of the Air1 Big Give contest for a day with Brandon Heath, I will ask him to autograph the CD for the whoever wins my GiveAway! (The Air1 drawing is today, some time after 4:00 PM Pacific time. Oh. My. Goodness. I think it’s OK to want to win this badly… I think…)

Remember, don’t just tell me you are going to pray; in order to be entered, you’ll need to seize the moment and pray something right then and there in the comment box! (Of course, it should go without saying that you aren’t tossing out a prayer just to win CD… that would be like spending your last dollar four dollars on a latte, or pawning your wedding ring to go to the arcade.)

And after you enter, click back over to Lysa’s blog and check out some of the other amazing contests!

If you are already a prayer partner or financial supporter of to IJM, it won’t affect your chances to win the CD one way or the other, but it would tickle me pink just to know it!

Merry Christmas!

    From Psalm 20

May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.

May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.

May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.

We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

    Dear Jesus,

Have mercy on the oppressed, the broken, then enslaved, the abused. Let the might of your compassion arise to bring justice and freedom, comfort and peace. Empower your warriors with wings to fly quickly and accurately and hearts to love unreservedly. Lord, save us.

    Amen

Lord God, I lift up the work of IJM. Thank you for their heart and for what they are doing to help those who are in bondage and seemingly without hope. Bless them abundantly and give them favor in all that they put their hands to. These are you children and you said if we pray according to your will it is done and I know it is your will for the injustices, that are done against these people, to stop. Encourage your servants and place your protection around them, In Jesus Precious Powerful Name, Amen.

  7. Shannon Says:

Lord be with those at IJM. You know each individual and what they need right now. Bless them with peace, comfort, and a friend at their side. As Christmas approaches, and we are busy visiting with our families, may we remember those in distress….in your prcious Name I pray……

Hi! We have had IJM presentations in our church as Lisa Cheong in Toronto is part of our congregation and a group recently returned from Cambodia. My heart is definitely with your work there. I don’t know if I qualify as I live in Toronto, but I want to pray anyway:
“Father, I pray for those working with IJM and being exposed to victims of gross injustices daily. May You guard their hearts from being overwhelmed, may You instil Your comfort and counsel, may You guard and protect them from Satan’s schemes to block freedom for those in bondage. Show Yourself in mighty power and bring justice for those little ones. Thank You, Lord.”

  9. Wanda Says:

Oh Father, I have such a heavy heart right now. My sweet friend (Carol) is hurting…..today you called her precious son, John to be with you forever in eternity. While I will never understand….I still trust you, Lord. I ask you that you wrap your loving arms around this wonderful family and hold them through this storm. I understand to die is to live…and I claim victory over this thing we call death. Help me to love and minister to her as she is going to grieve his loss forever.
I also pray for this amazing ministry IJM. Thank you God for servants who see a need and act to make something incredible happen. God you are so worthy and so mighty. Bless this loving work and use it to glorify your name everywhere!
    In Jesus name,
    Amen.

  10. Heather Says:

Father, We pray for all those who are enslaved around the world at this moment. It is so easy for us to turn a blind eye, to go about our daily lives. Help us to feel a burden for those who are being taken advantage of, those who do not know true love and those who are recovering from emotional and physical abuse. Open our eyes to your hurting children around the world and give us wisdom for how we can each play a part to be Your hands. We ask that those who are causing this evil against your children will hear the truth also. That they can be a true modern day Saul/Paul conversion. Help us to share Your love with passion and zeal to every soul we meet. In Jesus name, Amen.

Lord, I pray for those in the front lines at IJM. Let them feel Your awesome presence as they serve You. You are their shield, their buckler, and their rear-guard. You have given them the only weapon they need - Your Word. Give them protection - give their families peace. Thank You for what You are doing in this world through Your people. Thank You for Your love and boundless grace! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

  13. Amy Brooke Says:

I love what IMJ does and sponsor a child in Rwanda because of reading Gary Haugen’s book “The Good News About Injustice.”

    Dear God,

I thank you so much for putting justice on the hears of these men and women. Lord, protect them as they do your work. Give them insight and wisdom. More than that, let them know that they are always “safe” with you so it is more than okay to be brave.

    Amen.

  14. Rachel M Says:

Lord I lift this ministry up to you and ask that you would bless it beyond measure, and that your angels would surround each and every individual involved. Keep them safe from harm and bless them so that they can in turn do your work here on earth!

    amen

  15. Julie Says:

    Zechariah 7:9 (New International Version)

This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.

    Father,
I ask that you would pour out you love and mercy on the people involved in IJM, that you would cover them with a hedge of protection, and make their ministry fruitful. Strengthen them in times of difficulty and fill them with joy.
    Amen

I never heard of IJM until I read your blog - what a great mission!! I will pray for them now and in the future.

    ——————–

    Galatians 6:9-10 (New International Version)
9Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

    Lord,

Please be with all those who are involved with IJM, let them not grow weary as they fight daily for YOU. Lift them up as they face many obstacles and difficulties knowing that there are so many to rescue and time is not in their favor. Help them to not be discouraged as the task they are doing looks so overwhelming and the need is so great. Remind them that even though there may seem to be no light at the end of this dark tunnel, that YOU are the light and YOUR timing is perfect.

Be with those that are waiting to be freed - and shower down grace and faith on them to encourage them that even though man has them in slavery, that YOU have set them free - and give them ways to pass on the message of YOUR freedom to others who do not know it. Lift up those who are waiting for their loved ones to be rescued and help them to know that all hope lies within YOU.

And, to the ones enslaved by Satan and are causing the need for the mission of IJM, somehow reach them, Lord. Open their sin-filled eyes and show them that they are the ones in slavery and that their slavery has a MUCH MORE dire end called Hell.

Knowing that there is SO much more left to pray, I offer this weak prayer in Your Son’s Name, Amen.
