Elaine Ann Dhaemers

It’s my sister’s birthday. She is 29. I don’t know where she is.

It was May 20, 2003 when she was last seen by anyone we know of. It seems she didn’t say where she was going, but a few of her possessions were found on June 1, 2003 in a remote area of South Mountain Park, in Phoenix, Arizona.

No one in our family has heard from her since a few weeks before her disappearance. It goes without saying that if anyone has seen her, or has any information regarding her whereabouts, please contact me and the authorities immediately. Here is her page on the website of the National Center for Missing Adults.

It is an odd way to begin each of the past few years, with a mystery and a sense of unfinished loss looming over me. I pray for her and draw comfort from relinquishing her into the Hands of the only One Who knows where she is; the only One in the universe we could trust her to.

I ask for His protection and mercy, and I ask that He might soon bring her back home.

What will it mean if that last prayer is granted? Will it be her beautiful smile that is restored to us or the shell that could barely contain it?

I am choosing to hope she hasn’t contacted any of us by choice. It is an odd thing to hope for at the beginning of each new year.

I’m so sorry, Helen. I can’t easily imagine the hole in your lives, and franky don’t want to know.

God is good… but sometimes ya gotta wonder.

I had no idea that your dear sister was missing. I will keep her and your family in my prayers. May God’s will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. I am so sorry that you are going through this!
