Brits pub has such good food & that would have been fun for me anyway! Dave isn't into "Chick flicks" and this is definitely one. I loved it so much I bought the DVD at a movie sale at Blockbuster. I just love the scene at the end. Yeah, Mr Darcy is kinda of blah until he starts to wake up & realize that he is totally flipped out over this woman because she is independent and speaks her mind. (my thot anyway!) I also had never read the book until after this movie... I finished it while we were in Colorado & decided there were things I liked about the book better. And Mr Collins... gross! I am so glad she put him in his place!!! I would have done the same thing... said NO and ran out of the house as far away as I could get from that man. I am soooooooooo glad that we get to pick who we want to marry in this day and age. :-)

He did little for me. I didn't get effeminate as much as one-dimensional, and for a good portion of the film, too. Instead of "proud" he seemed angry.

On the other hand, Olivier, who wasn't your typical manly man, was very believable in his impeccably acted Mr. Darcy. You saw his transformation. You fell in love with him. (Didn't you, Scott?)

The 2005 movie was romantic, but as a package - not because their Darcy was particularly attractive (or even generally attractive, come to think of it.) Except in that last scene with the little kisses and the "Mrs. Darcy's."

That was better than Patrick Reusse!

And wasn't Mr. Collins a hoot?

Hey! What a great version of Austen's classic. Although it would have been nice to see a MAN play Mr. Darcy. (A bit too wistful for my taste)
