a little water
After 10:30 p.m. Done loading the dishwasher but it isn’t a full load. I’d rather not start out the next morning with it 1/2 full of dirty dishes or it will throw off the flow of the day. And yet, I hesitate start the cycle.
“Should I run it, Ken?” He says, “Yes.” (Knew he would; that’s why I asked him.) But he also says this, “It’s more important for you to have a routine than to save a little water.”
Funny that such a simple little statement could stop me in my tracks and kind of bring tears to my eyes. But Ken and I have observed how little routines adhered to can go a long way in the pursuit of a peaceful house. Having somewhat lost site of that recently, it was nice to hear Ken remind me that the goal is a truly worthy one. At least worth a little extra water now and then to achieve it.
