Snow Day
I was in denial yesterday about the impending deluge, but it came anyway. I was really getting into the thought of warmer weather. Of course if I cared that much about the long winter I wouldn’t still live in Minnesota.
The kids got to sleep in and I didn’t have to go anywhere. But the poor “school kids” ALL left their boots at school. Oh, well, there is always tomorrow to get out in it.
Got a great nap with Henry (and then alone after he got up.) Even Ken got a snow day today and he came home early. He was able to keep an eye on things as I snoozed; and to snow blow a skinny path around our corner lot to appease the neighbors. The sun will take care of the rest in a day or two.
I didn’t do much today, before or after the nap. I made part of dinner while Ken made the beer cheese soup. He is such a charming kitchen companion I got a little distracted.
Did you know that if you make popovers and forget to put the milk in they still… pop over? I had some anxiety about my popovers as they baked. But the most noticeable change, believe it or not, was that there were about six fewer (1/3 cup batter each - missing two cups of liquid.) They also had a crispier, lighter texture - but were still well received.
Ken’s soup fared not as well. The beer was too dark, we think. And we had not quite enough cheese. I told Ken that the success of my part of the meal and the failure of his is proof of the power of worry.
Even though I napped, I think I am always a little sleep deprived. So I am ready for bed at 10:30. This is nice. To be tired, but not so much that I wish I didn’t have to take my contacts out.
