Turbo Lax

I don’t like this year’s Turbo Tax online. My previous two years of experience with it have been positive, but they’ve UN-improved it this year in their updating process.

It seems to have transfered stuff from last year a bit glitchy. There are vague appearances of mistakes - stuff in odd spots - and that shakes my confidence.

The questions are clear, but tax law isn’t - and every time I click anywhere promising “more information” all I get is a new window followed by a long wait while nothing loads.

If I forget something, or need to edit, there’s no longer a “jump to” button, but instead I have to start at the beginning of the appropriate - and overly broad - category and start clicking through every infernal page hoping to see and click on the right obscure spot to get to it.

Yikes. It’s telling me we’ll get a couple grand back. I wish I could be excited (and relieved - I thought maybe we’d be paying in) but I just don’t trust that it isn’t messing up the numbers. I could have had it filed by now, were it not for the frustrating delays.

(If all that weren’t annoying enough, one of Ken’s 1099s is off. By almost $10,000! But that can be fixed.)

I almost feel like doing it the old, old, fashioned way. On paper. But first I’ll research some other online services. There HAS to be something better! Hopefully the others will be the same as Turbo Tax in a couple of ways. You don’t pay until you print or file, and you don’t have to enter any personal information until you’ve given all the numbers, seen you’re bottom line, and know if you like the service.
